Today starts off with a grass frost and some cool air temperatures. At 05:09 hours the thermometer reached a low of -0.8c.
It will, however, be a generally bright start to the day with only a thin layer of cloud. This will help temperatures reach a maximum of 10c by mid afternoon. The air pressure will continue to rise to around 1035mb and this factor, along with the evidence from the radar and satellite images, suggests that the risk of any rain today is very low (around 7%).
This afternoon will again be generally bright and winds will be light at around 3mph. The wind will be deriving from a NW to NE arc. The day’s weather will be, what I think of, as a proper Spring day.
The cloud cover will remain thin or fragmented through the evening and this will allow our astronomers to make some observations. Overnight the cloud cover will increase a little as the jet stream rides above the UK allowing the cool north air to mix with the warmer southern air. Our overnight minimum temperature will be around 1c.
Summary. A frosty start but becoming brighter later. A low risk of any rain (7%)
