A mild night

After a very mild night when the air temperature’s lowest point was 12c at 02:34 hours  we wake to find a cloudy day.

This cloud is due to two aspects combining.  A warm southerly wind is  meeting the jet stream that is running across the UK with its leading edge running down the eastern coast of the UK.  This jet stream position  brings with it some cooler air and when the warm and cold air meet we have cloud forming.

Although it will be a predominantly cloudy start to the day we will see brighter spells later.  There are a few small rain clouds just to the south of our area but the risk of rain for us today is very low at only a 10-15% risk.

Our top temperature today will be around 20c and overnight the minimum will be a very mild 11-12c.

The wind will start the day deriving from the S but as the day passes the wind direction will move towards the W. The average wind speed today will be around 4mph.

Summary. A dry but cloudy start.  Some brighter spells possible.  Remaining mild.
