Father’s day weather

After yesterday’s rainy interlude today sees us “enjoy” a much milder and drier day.  The good day is there is only a 10% risk of any rain.  Yesterday a total of 7.8mm of rain fell in our area.

The jet stream (and wind) is running across the width of the country and regular readers will know that this means it will be a cloudy but mild day.  Our top temperature today will be around 16c and overnight the low will be in the region of 8-10c.

If you are going out on your bike you may encounter a little breeze to cycle against.  The wind will be deriving from a W-SW arc. The average wind speed will be around 8mph.

The GEFS ensemble for the period until 7 July is showing a steady increase in the air temperature but this is nothing we would not expect.  There does appear to be one or two peaks into the mid twenty centigrade area but this chart should only be considered as an indication at this stage but the chart is as we would expect for this time of year.

Summary. A cloudy day with some breeze.  Remaining mostly dry.

Observations made 08:48 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

Air pressure : 1015.5mb ; Temperature 13.6c; Relative humidity : 77%; Wind 27mph SW; Rain this month : 33.8mm; Rain this year : 222.8mm.
