What risk of rain?

As we discussed in yesterday’s blog a low air pressure system is moving into our area and by late afternoon we will see the pressure reduce to around 1013mb.   This low pressure system will bring an increased risk of rain to our area today.

The radar images are clearly showing that there is a band of rain moving across the UK from the W and this will reach us sometime after lunch.  The risk of rain is high this afternoon at around 80%.  I have tried to track the system and my opinion is that in our area we will only see drizzle or light to moderate rainfall.  To the N and S of us some areas will see heavy rainfall.

In between the rain we will be able to enjoy some bright spells through a partly fragmented sky.  Our top temperature will increase to around 19c.  Overnight the low will be a mild 13-14c. (Last night’s low was 11.8c).

The wind will be deriving from the SSW-SW and the average win spped will be around 6mph.

Summary : An increased risk of rain today but some bright spells too.
