A breezy night

Today sees a transition on the weather pattern with the mild SW breeze giving way to colder air from the N-NW.  You may recall from my blog yesterday that this revised weather pattern is due to the jet stream moving south below the UK. This will bring rain to France and Spain and cooler weather for us.

During daylight hours there will be a 25% risk of rain and this will increase to around 60% during the early to mid evening.  Overnight some of the rain showers may have a little sleet mixed in with it but it will be short lived and will not create any accumulation in our area.

Today’s biggest weather foe will, once again, be the wind.  During the day the wind speeds will steadily increase and move towards the WNW-NW.  By late evening and overnight the average wind speed will be around 15mph with gusts around 35mph.

Our top temperature will be around 8c and overnight the low will be around 2c.  The strengthening breeze will reduce the feel of air temperature by 2 to 3c.  We can expect to see some ground frost tomorrow so please remember to protect any tender plants.

The cool weather will remain with us until, at least, Tuesday.
