It was a cold night last night with the air temperature at 06:30 hours this morning still at -1c. this is, however, not as cold as last year when, at a similar time, the air temperature was -2.1c. The cold overnight temperature has left us with some frost this morning.
The good news is that the jet stream is generally travelling below the UK and this has helped develop a low pressure system that will push down the UK from N to S. This will, in turn, mean that we will see some clear spells eventually develop and that the risk of rain will not be any greater than 15%.
Our top temperature today will around 4c and overnight the minimum air temperature will be around freezing point.
Another benefit of the high air pressure is that the wind speeds (SW this morning ENE this afternoon) will be low and, therefore, there will be only a small amount (around 1c) of wind chill. As the day begins to warm up and with very little breeze to speak about there is a risk of some mist developing in parts of our area.
Summary: Cloudy and cool to start with the risk of some mist. Becoming clearer later.
