Is this typical weather for the time of year?

Last night the air temperature fell below freezing point with the overnight low reaching -1.3c at 05:42 hours.  This morning is, however, warmer than last year when the air temperature, at 06:32 hours,  was -2.9c.

Just to show how typical the air temperature is at the moment I have only recorded, in the last six years on this corresponding day, one air temperature above freezing point at around 06:30 hours.  That was in 2012 (around 5c).  All other years I have recorded temperatures similar to those of today.

Today will see very thin or no cloud for much of the day allowing for some bright spells to develop.  these brighter spells will, however, only help lift the top temperature up to around 3-4c.  Overnight it will be another cool affair with the minimum air temperature around -2c.  Clouds will, however, gather during the night and this will herald some milder air coming into our area over the next few days (most noticeable from Friday).

The wind will be light and deriving from the SE for much of the day. The average wind speed will be around 3mph.

Summary:  A cool day but with plenty of clear spells.
