Windy day

It will have been difficult not to notice how breezy it is this morning.  Gusts speeds, at the time of observation (06:00 hours), were around 40mph and the average wind speed around 18-20mph.

This windy theme, with similar wind speeds to those at the time of observation, will remain with us for much of day the due to a low pressure system that is centred in the northern parts of the UK. We will, however, see the winds speeds reduce overnight and through tomorrow morning.  The wind will be deriving from a SSW-WSW arc for the majority of the day.  care should be taken when travelling as debris may be in the roads.

Our top temperature today will be around 11c and the overnight minimum temperature will be around 4c.  With the strong breeze the wind chill will reduce the feel of the air temperature by 3c to 4c.

There is a 40% risk of some showers too but the high winds these will soon pass by.  The radar images are showing the risk is greatest around mid evening.

Summary: A very breezy day. Some risk of rain later in the day.
