It is a cool and miserable start to the last day of January 2016. At the time of observation 1.4mm of rain had fallen in our area and the prospect of further precipitation up to midday is around 95%. This afternoon / evening the risk of rain is around 25%.
Things will look up a little, however, as during the afternoon the air temperature will rise to around 12c. This will be due to a change of wind direction and heavy cloud cover. Overnight, with a SW-WSW breeze blowing, the air temperature will also remain mild. The minimum air temperature overnight will be around 10c.
The wind will start the day deriving from the SSE-S but, as we discussed above, will soon travel clockwise towards the SW/WSW. The average wind speed will be around 4 t0 6mph this morning but will strengthen to 10-12mph as the day passes and the air pressure beings to rapidly increase. The air pressure by the end of the day will be around 102mb.
Summary: A dull, cool and damp start but becoming milder albeit with plenty of cloud.
