Over the next few days the jet stream will be sitting well below our area and this means that over the next few days we are set for a period of cool but mostly dry weather.
Today continues the theme that was started yesterday although we may see a little more cloud today. The radar images are showing that the cloud depth will vary during the day and, in particular, during the afternoon we will be treated to some brighter spells. Our top temperature will be around 5-6c and the overnight low will be around 1c. Last night’s overnight low was 0.1c at 04:49 hours.
The synoptic charts are showing that the points of similar air pressure are spread fairly wide apart and this means that we will only have a light breeze today. The average wind speed will be around 4-5mph. The wind will start deriving from the SE before moving anticlockwise towards the E. (This later wind direction will bring cool winds with it).
The radar images do show some very small rain clouds that will pass through our area today but any risk of localised and short-lived rain is only around 20%.
Summary: A cold start to the day. Mostly cloudy with some brighter spells.
