A night for some astronomy?

After yesterday’s very cloudy day today will bring us some bright and sunny spells.  This improvement is due to the jet stream moving further south away from the UK.  The “blocking effect” of the jet stream reduces the possibility of the cool air from the north mixing with the warm air from the south hence less cloud and, with it, a lower risk of rain.

The risk of rain today is less than 10%.

It will, however, be a cool day with a top temperature of around 5c and the overnight low will be around 0c.  The wind chill will reduce the feel of the air temperature bu around 1c.

The wind will be deriving from a NNW-NE arc and the average wind speed will be around 5-6mph.

Today will be great day for a walk in the park, taking photographs or having a ride on your bike.  You will need to take care, however, as there could be some icy patches around first thing this morning.  (At 07:41 hours the air temperature was only 0.7c).

There is also good news for astronomer friends too as the sky will be clear enough during parts of the evening for some observations to be made.
