A lot warmer than last year

Today will be a generally cloudy day but the good news is that it will be very mild. Our top temperature will be around 11c but with the wind chill this will feel more like 8c.  Overnight will also see us “staying warm” with minimum temperature of around 9c.

Our weather conditions today are very similar to those we experienced in 2014 , however, they are in sharp contrast to last year when our early morning air temperature was around 1c.

The cloud and mild conditions today are due to a West to East jet stream flow bringing warm winds from the WSW.  There is, however, a 75% risk of some rain today as the warm air condenses when it reaches the cooler blocking air from the north.

The radar images are showing plenty of rain clouds passing through area this morning and during the afternoon.  Many will simply blow by but it is unlikely we will escape from receiving some rain.  I would not expect to see greater than 2mm fall in our area.

The wind will be brisk for most of the day with an average speed of around 10mph and with gust speeds of around 25mph.  The wind will be deriving from a SW-W arc.
