A pleasant start to the week

It is a cloudy but relatively mild start to the day today compared to yesterday.  The overnight minimum temperature was 3.1c at 03:03 hours compared to the low of 0.8c we encountered the previous night. This is a much more pleasant start to the week.

The jet stream is still predominantly below the UK and the air pressure is high.  This suggests that it will be a dry day.  The risk of any rain today is around 10%.

Despite the dry weather there will still be some medium height cloud (about 6,000 feet) around for much of the day.  The sun will, however, be able to break through from time to time to bring us some brighter spells.

Our top temperature will rise to around 11c today and the overnight low will be around 3-5c.

The wind will spend the day deriving from a SW-W arc.  The average wind speed today will be around 6-8mph.

Summary:  Another dry day with a very low risk of rain.  Medium height cloud cover for much of the day.

Observations made 06:33 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.

    Hi Kevin
How is it looking for the weekend? I’m hosting a get together on Saturday and could really do with dry weather – I’ve seen some alarming tweets (from the usual suspects) suggesting Snow!!

    Cheers

    Neil

Hi Neil. Looking at the charts it looks as if the weekend will be predominantly dry with a top of around 10c. There is very little risk of any snow but it may feel cool in the northerly breeze and we could have the odd shower. I know that there are a few ifs and buts in this short description but when you go beyond a few days hence the accuracy reduces to around 60%.
