The surface air pressure starts off fairly stable at around 1020mb this morning, however, the synoptic charts are showing that a low pressure front will be reaching our area by the early hours of tomorrow.
There will, therefore, be a steady reduction in air pressure today which will lead to three outcomes:-
- A slight increase in wind speed as the day passes
- A 50% risk of rain during the mid afternoon and a 70% risk of rain overnight / first thing tomorrow morning.
- The air pressure will be around 1013mb by tomorrow morning and as a consequence it will also be a little breezier than this morning.
The day will be generally cloudy but mild. Our top temperature will be around 20c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around the 15c mark. Last night the minimum temperature was 12.5c at 00:59 hours. A positive aspect of the increased cloud cover is the reduced risk of UV damage. The risk today is low to moderate so it will be a lot safer fr the children to play outside.
The wind will spend today deriving from the SW. The average wind speed will be 6mph.
Summary: Mild and often cloudy. A medium risk of rain during the afternoon and a high risk of rain overnight.
