Last day of summer

Today is the last day of the astrological summer as tomorrow we will reach the point of the Autumn equinox (equal hours of day and night).  Overall, we have had a pleasant summer with plenty of warm dry spells and, for us weather recorders, some occasional heavy rain to notate too.

Today will be a generally cloudy day with just the odd brighter spell.  There is a 32% risk of some rain today (particularly around 15:00 hours).  Hopefully this possibility, caused by a low pressure system to the west of the UK, will simply blow by.  The air pressure will reduce to around 1016mb by the end of the day.

Our top temperature today will be around 18c and overnight the low will be around 11-12c.  last night’s minimum temperature was 10c at midnight.

The wind will be light this morning increasing to around 6mph by lunchtime.  The wind will be deriving predominantly from a SSE direction.

Summary : A cloudy / partially cloudy day.  A 32% risk of rain this afternoon.

Observations made 06:29 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.
Temperature : 12.2c; Air pressure : 1017.8mb; Relative humidity  87%; Wind : calm ; Rain this month : 39.8mm; Rain this year 577.4mm
