It isn’t the brightest start to the day with dense medium and high level cloud dominating proceedings – but will it improve?

The bad news is that thick cloud will remain for the majority of the day and will, sadly, prevent any bright spells.

The radar images are also showing the wintry showers are heading our way this morning.  From 09:00 hours until mid afternoon we will have a 75% risk of some rain / sleet.  It will not rain / sleet continually through that period but that is when we are most at risk of some precipitation.

Our top and overnight temperature will be around 3c.  Not the warmest of day!  This cool air temperature will feel more -0.5c in the NE/ENE wind.  The average wind speed will be around 8mph.  If you are stepping or riding out then warm clothes are the order of the day.

Looking ahead to thee working week we will see the wind direction change from the cool NE towards the warmer S (SE to SW).  This switch will see the air temperature rise to 7-10c during the week. The change will begin commencing tomorrow.

Summary for today : A cloudy day with the risk of some wintry showers.
