As I looked up at the sky at 06:30 hours this morning I could clearly see the moon. A subsequent review of the radar images show that we are set for some clear spells this morning.
With the wind deriving from the warmer SW sand the sun being able to break through a little more; we will see the thermometer reach a maximum of around 10c today. As the afternoon passes the cloud cover will increase and there is a 30% risk of some light showers in the early to mid evening period. Overnight the minimum temperature will be around 4c.
Overall it has been a dry start to the year with our rain level only at 57% of the level we had received by this time last year.
The wind will have an average wind speed of around 7-8 mph today. The wind will be bringing it with it warmer (and moist air particularly from the WSW) from the SW-WSW. This later wind direction is the reason that we will see increased cloud cover in the early evening.
Summary for today : A bright start becoming cloudier later. A mild day with temperatures potentially touching double figures.
