Garden festival weather (WS7 weather report 20-5-2017)

Today sees the first day of the Lichfield Home and Garden Festival and, no doubt, the event will attract many visitors to the city.  The question is when will be the best time to visit?

My answer is anytime if you go prepared!

High air pressure will be pushing a low air pressure system from our area later today this does, however, mean that there is likely to be some showers during the transition period.  The rain radar images are showing that we are likely to receive some sunny showers from late this morning and off and on during the afternoon.  Some of the showers could be moderately heavy.

Tomorrow, however, sees us with a much more stable and dry day.

Today’s top temperature will be around 14c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around 8c.

The wind today will be deriving mainly from the SSW and the average wind speed will be around 5-7mph.

Yesterday 11mm of rain fell in our area and, at the moment, it seems as if we are seeing plenty of rain.  To put things into context so far this month we have received 45.6mm of rain and this compares to 46mm this time last year.  Seems like it is a familiar pattern.

Summary for today: A bright start with occasional sunny showers likely from late morning.

Observations made on 20/5/2017 at 08:15 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.
Temperature :10.1c; Air pressure : 1013.8mb; Relative humidity 89%; Wind : 5mph SW; Rain this month : 45.6mm; Rain this year : 210.2mm
