Looking good (WS7 weather report 21-5-2017)

smalllogo

Today is the second and final day of the Lichfield Home and Garden Festival and I am happy to report that the weather will behave itself a little better than yesterday.

In total 6.2mm of rain fell in Hammerwich yesterday bringing the week’s total to 32.4mm.  Our total rainfall this month, so far, is 51.8mm and there are still more days of the month to go.  This monthly total is slightly above average for the time of year (average rainfall for the Month of May – 50mm).

The good news is that improved weather in our area starts from today and will, mostly likely, last right through next week and the Bank Holiday weekend.

Returning more specifically to today.  The air surface pressure is rising slowly and will continue to be high.  This will lead to the risk of any rain today only reaching around 4-5%.

It will be a mild day but often hazy or partly cloudy day with a top temperature of 17c and the overnight minimum temperature will be around 10c.  Last night the overnight minimum air temperature was 7.8c at 02:28 hours.

The wind will be driving from the SW but the winds will be gernerally light at around 5-6mph.

Overall a very pleasant day.

Summary for today: A mild and pleasant day. Ideal for getting out and about.
