Summer Solstice 2017 (WS7 weather report 21-6-2017)

smalllogoWith the heralding of the summer solstice comes the prospect of a very warm and humid day and a subsequent change in the weather pattern.

Let’s look at the detail.

A low air pressure, cold front will push its way into our area by around 15:00 hours.  This will eventually allow some cool air to mix with what is going to be a very warm day with plenty of convection stream.  The possible outcome is that we will receive some thunderstorms late afternoon / early evening.  The risk of a thunder storm today is around 40%.

It will be a partly cloudy and quite humid day with a top temperature of around 28-30c. Overnight the minimum temperature will be around 15c.

The wind will start off  from the NE but will switch towards the SE as the morning passes.  As the air pressure reduce the wind speed will increase to an average of around 5-6mph.

The pollen count will, one again be high.

Summary for today: A very warm and humid day. Risk of thunder later.
