Once again we start the day with a wet footpath following some overnight rainfall in our area.
It is also going to be a breezy day with the synoptic charts showing that the points of similar air pressure are tightly packed in our area. The average wind speed today will be around 10mph with gusts reaching around 25mph. The wind will, however, be bringing with it mild air from the WSW.
At 06:30 hours the air temperature was already 12.9c. Although we should not expect much variation from this for the remainder of the day (a top of 13.5-14c) the air temperature will very possibly beat the record for the day /area set in 2009 (13c). Overnight we can expect the air temperature to reduce to no lower than 12c.
As the afternoon passes the rain radar forecast models are suggesting that a band of rain will push into our area by mid to late afternoon and will linger around during the evening. The risk of some further rain today is around 80%. The rain will eventually move away from our area around 03:00 hours.
Summary: An extremely mild start to the day. Breezy with a risk of rain later.
