If I was asked to describe a typical November day then I think today would probably be it.
Today will be a cool day with the air temperature only around 4c as we make the morning commute to work. The temperature will “top out” at around 6-7c. Overnight, under an often clear sky, the air temperature will reduce to around 2c.
The surface air pressure is rising slowly and will settle at around 1012mb by around 21:00 hours. The increased air pressure suggests that there is a reduced risk of rain today and the radar images confirm this thought. I believe that the risk of rain today is only around 10%.
Today’s wind will be generally light (average speed around 5mph) and deriving from the WSW. The jet stream will push into our area from the north as the day passes and this will introduce cool winds, clearer skies and lower air temperatures.
The jet stream forecast models suggest that we are now set for a spell of cooler weather that will last into the early part of December. It is definitely time to find out your hat and gloves!
