Today is, for many, the last day at work before the Christmas break and overall it is going to be a mild and pleasant day (weather wise at least). This time last year (at approximately 06:30 hours) the air temperature was only 3.1c but today we are basking in the warmth of over 8c. In contrast in 2010 we were shivering at -1.9c whilst in 2015 we were looking for our shorts at 13c.
Today will be a generally cloudy day with the cloud mostly at a high level (around 20,000 feet). There is, however, only a 15-20% risk of any rain. Our top temperature today will be around 9-10c and overnight will also remain mild at around 7-8c.
The wind will be light as the air pressure will only change slightly as the day passes. The average 4 mph breeze will be deriving from a SW-WSW direction.
The next few days will see an increase in the wind speed but, at the moment, there is nothing to suggest that this will be anything more than a strong breeze (average 10-12mph with gusts of around 25-30mph.)
Summary: Mild air from the SW-WSW keeping our area warm but cloudy.
