There is a remarkable similarity with today’s weather to this time last year. The air pressure, wind speed and air temperature are all within a “jot” of what we were encountering 12 months ago.
Today will see the air pressure reduce from around 1022mb to 1012mb by the end of the day. This rapid fall in air pressure will mean that it will be a breezy day although there will not be any really damaging wind speeds. The risk of any rain today is only around 15%.
It will be a cloudy day with just the odd brighter spell. These brighter spells and the warm, mostly SW, breeze will help lift our top temperature up to around 11c. Overnight the minimum temperature will be a mild 8-9c. This is quite warm if you are wearing a big red coat and carrying a heavy sack!
Today’s breeze will be deriving from the SW and the average wind speed will be around 9-10mph. Gust speeds could reach around 25mph.
Christmas day will continue to be breezy and cloudy and there is a high risk of some heavy rain tomorrow night.
Summary: Often cloudy but generally dry and mild.
