First day of Autumn weather (WS7 weather report 23-9-2018)

smalllogo Today is the first day of Autumn (astronomically) and the weather is trying to welcome in the new season in typical Autumnal fashion.

We will see some early light rain / drizzle this morning whilst a wide band of rain, some of which could be heavy, falls to the south of our region.  To see what the weather is like currently like on the south coast take a look at this Bournemouth webcam.

In our area we are only just catching the northern edge of the rain cloud system and so, although we are 90% certain of seeing some rain, the accumulation will not measure up to much.  By noon the risk will be down to around 30%.

This afternoon we may even see the cloud cover dissipate for long enough to allow the odd brighter spell to develop.

Our top temperature today will be around 13c and overnight the minimum will be around 6-8c.

Today’s breeze will be light and deriving from the cooler NW-NNW.  The average wind speed will be around 5-6mph.

Summary for today : Overcast start with some light rain.  Becoming brighter with less risk of rain during the afternoon.
