After the wind (WS7 weather report 14-10-2018)

After two days of very windy weather (gust speeds on Friday reached over 40mph and yesterday 31mph) today will be much calmer but very wet.

At the time of my observations the radar images were clearly showing that rain was going to be a high threat (98% risk of rain) for most of the daylight hours.  We can expect accumulation levels to reach around 15-20mm by the end of the day.   That should be plenty of rain to water the plants!  At the time of my observations the rain was falling at a rate of 7mm per hour.

It will be a lot cooler today than of late.  The top temperature during daylight hours will be around 12c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around 10c.

Today’s breeze will be deriving from the cooler NW.  The average wind speed will be around 6mph.

Looking ahead sees a similar day to today in store for tomorrow.  The remainder of the week then looks as if it will be mostly dry with some bright spells along the way.

Summary for today : A day with plenty of rainfall. Cooler than of late but a lot less breezy.
