Double figure start (WS7 weather report 24-10-2018)

The air temperature, at the time of my observations, was already into double figures (11.3c at 06:23 hours).  In fact the temperature had not been below 11c since midnight.

The maximum temperature will, however, only be a degree or two higher than this high starting point.  Today’s maximum temperature will be around 13c and overnight the minimum temperature will be around 8c.

In general it will be a cloudy day with just the odd brighter spell.  The cloud will be formed by the W-NW breeze that will be blowing across our area today.  The good new, however, is that despite the cloud the risk of any rain is only around 7%.  The further you travel towards mid Wales the more likely that you will see some brighter spells.

Today’s breeze will be lively at times with the average wind speed around 8-10mph.  The wind will be deriving from a mainly WNW-NW direction.  At 10mph the breeze will reduce the ‘feel’ of the actual air temperature by around 2c.

Summary for today : A mild but cloudy day with a cooling NW breeze.

Observations made on 24/10/2018 at 06:23 hours Hammerwich, Staffordshire.
Temperature : 11.3c; Air pressure : 1029.8mb steady; Relative humidity 90%; Wind : 2mph NNW; Rain this month : 37 mm; Rain this year : 425mm
