It is a very cool and misty start to the day. At 06:36 hours (the time of my observations) the air temperature was -0.4c. Overnight the minimum temperature was -0.6c at 02:41 hours. Today’s cool start is in far contrast to the same day last year when the air temperature at 06:25 hours was 12.8c!
As the morning passes the mist will burn away but the top temperature, today, will not exceed 4 to 5c. Overnight will be a touch warmer than last night – but only just! The minimum overnight temperature will be around 2-3c.
The good news is that the risk of rain is only around 10%. The radar images do show that there is possibly a small amount of sleet / snow going to fall in the Peak District this morning but we are unlikely receive / see any.
Today’s breeze will be deriving from a cool N-ENE direction. The average wind speed will bearound 4-5mph.
Summary : A very cool day with the air temperature around freezing point during the morning commute. A dry but cool day ahead.
