Lichfield Christmas Food Festival Weather (WS7 weather report 8-12-2018)

smalllogo

Today sees the first day of the Lichfield Christmas Food Festival.  I am sure that the event will attract thousands of visitors to the city.  You may recall that, last year, the event saw plenty of snow fall – particularly on the Sunday.

I can safely say that there will not be a repeat of the heavy snow this year but the weather will bring a few challenges.  At times it will be very bright which, with the sun being low at times, can make driving difficult.  We are also 80% likely to receive some rain.  Rain is most likely from around noon although some earlier small showers are possible.

Finally, it will also be a breezy day with the average wind speed around 14mph.   Gusts speeds could be around 30mph.  The wind will be deriving from the WSW.

At 14mph our maximum air temperature of 11c will feel more like 6c with the wind chill.  This morning’s air temperature of around 8c will feel more like 3c.  If you are going out, for whatever reason, you will need to wrap up warm.

The minimum overnight temperature tonight is likely to be around 7c.

Summary : Some bright spells but a risk of some showers as the day passes.  remaining breezy and cool.
