It was a rainy start to the day with over 4mm of rain water accumulating by 08:00 hours. The radar images do, however, show a slightly improving picture as the morning passes.
The main body of the rain cloud system will move steadily away from our area and the rain will become lighter and eventually slow or even stop around 11:00 hours. We may, however, still see the odd spot of light drizzle as the afternoon passes.
Our top temperature today will be around 10c and overnight the minimum temperature will be a chilly 3c.
Today’s breeze will be generally light and deriving from a SW to SE arc this morning before moving to derive from the NE later in the day. This later movement will bring the cooler winds overnight.
Looking ahead to Christmas day we can say with a little more certainty that it will be a generally dry day (great for testing out new bikes and roller skates) although, in the main, it will be overcast. The top temperature will be around 7c which is cooler than last year year.
Summary : A rainy start but becoming drier as the day passes.
